Candella Foley-Finchem: A Champion for Iowa

Candella Foley-Finchem, LISW, IAADC, LIMHP, is a lifelong advocate committed to making a significant difference in the lives of her community members. With a robust background in social work, mental health counseling, and substance recovery treatment, Candella has consistently demonstrated her dedication through both her professional and volunteer efforts.

Originally from Arkansas, where she earned her B.S. in Psychology, B.A. in Social Work, and a Minor in Family Studies at Arkansas State University, Candella moved to Glenwood, Iowa, in 2006. She completed her MSW at the University of Nebraska, Omaha, and obtained her credentials as a Licensed Independent Social Worker, International Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and Licensed Independent Mental Health Provider. Her career spans roles from hospital social work to managing her own therapy practice, deeply influencing areas such as family counseling and community action initiatives.

Candella’s campaign for the Iowa House of Representatives stems from a heartfelt response to the concerns she’s heard from residents across Southwest Iowa—concerns about public education, environmental safety, and property rights. A fierce defender of public schools, Candella is troubled by the diminishing support for educators and students alike. Her environmental advocacy is fueled by her commitment to water conservation, spurred by recent neglect that has risked the health of local water systems.

Moreover, Candella is an adamant opponent of eminent domain abuses, standing with property owners against corporate encroachments—particularly concerning recent pipeline controversies. She believes in representing the unvoiced concerns of communities from Minden to Glenwood to Hamburg and all those in between in Mills, Fremont, and rural Pottawattamie Counties, ensuring they have a staunch advocate in the state capitol.

Despite facing her own health challenges, Candella’s resolve remains unshaken. She continues to be propelled by her personal mission statement, which emphasizes living with integrity, continuous learning, and fostering optimism. Her commitment to these values ensures that she approaches each day with the intention not only to listen but to actively seek solutions that will enhance the welfare of her constituents.

Candella Foley-Finchem isn’t just running for office; she’s standing up for the very essence of community and integrity in Iowa's political landscape. With a 'mom/grandma voice,' she is ready to ensure that the voices of Southwest Iowa are not only heard but are influential in shaping the future.
